SEO vs PPC: The Greatest Showdown of Online Marketing!

Unless you go digital, there is no way for people to take notice of your business. These days, the best place to expose yourself is the World Wide Web. It will not only help you stand out locally but globally as well. To boost your online traffic, it is of utmost importance that you make use of two digital marketing strategies: Pay-Per-Click (PPC) and Search-Engine-Optimization (SEO).

Whichever one you pick has to depend on the urgency of your business. Are you looking for quick results or let time take its course? If your company goals are in line with it, then you can make a more plausible decision. To help you filter your options better, let us investigate a little deeper into what is there in the two and what is not.

  • Position

SEO focuses on organic or natural results that are displayed on the search results page. PPC listings, on the other hand, are displayed as ‘sponsored links’ on the top and bottom of the page. Organic search produces all the web page that the search engine thinks is relevant to the query.

PPC on the other end reflects the desired SEM campaign and will only show results in a specific geographic area, to certain demographics or time.

  • Cost

For SEO, there is no cost for traffic, but there is for PPC. But there is a catch to this. Before you can get your free traffic, you have to work really hard for it. The reason for this is because the competition is really high and you will need to produce high-quality content as well as have a great SEO plan to be ranked in the top 5.

The cost of PPC however, depends on a couple of factors. If we take the example of the cost per click with that of Google AdWords, then it would depend on the popularity of the keyword, the number of advertisers who use that keyword and more.

  • Time

We asked this question before and we’ll say it again. How quickly does your business need results? Does it need it now or sometime later?

If later

If you’re considering the natural course, then SEO is the way to go. It could take months or even years, but if you can build up on the relevant keywords, it will result in more traffic with even more organic results.

There is plenty of work involved and building backlinks, constantly making quality content and increasing your domain authority, does not happen in under a day.

If now

PPC will produce quick but expensive results for you in case you are desperate to turn up a profit. It takes hours or even days to be able to produce results. You can get started once you have made your AdSense campaign and set your budget. Once you have all the cards set up, your ads will appear in the top four slots of the Google search results page.

  • Conversion

Think about which visitor is more likely to convert. Is it the one from PPC ads or the one from organic search? If the ads are highly targeted and optimized, then a visitor from PPC is more likely to convert than the one from the organic search. In terms of quickness, PPC outranks SEO.

  • Ease of use

Surprising to know that neither SEO nor PPC is easy to use. It makes no difference if you have the necessary knowledge and experience or not. SEO we said earlier takes a lot of time, but care and nurturing in order to deliver the right results. With PPC, you need to hire an expert in that field or you will end up losing a hundred dollars on the spot.
